HDPE biaxial geogrid is geosynthetic material used to reinforce soils and similar materials. Geogrids are commonly used to reinforce retaining walls, as well as sub-bases or sub-soils below roads or structures. Geogrids are commonly made of polymer materials, such as polyester, polyvinyl alcohol, polyethylene or polypropylene. They may be woven or knitted from yarns, heat-welded from strips of material, or produced by punching a regular pattern of holes in sheets of material, then stretched into a grid.

Types of geogrids

Uniaxial Geogrid: it is a planar grid, which possesses a much higher strength in one direction than in the other direction.

Biaxial Geogrid: it is a planar grid, which possesses similar strength in both or tho-directions i.e. longitudinal & transversal.

Triaxial Geogrid: These are manufactured from a punched polypropylene sheet oriented in multiple, equilateral directions to form triangular apertures.

Steel-plastic Weld Geogrid: Composite of steel reinforcement with the novel process and compounding. This product surface extension of rough pattern pressure with rules

Fiberglass Geogrid: Selects excellent reinforcement type non-alkali glass fiber yarn, It has good physical strength

Warp Knitting Polyester Geogrid: Selects high density synthetic fiber as raw material, uses the warp knitting oriented structure, forms the reliable combining site, displays its mechanical properties fully。

Issue

In the construction of highway, railway and other infrastructure, all kinds of complex geographical environment, need to do targeted construction.  Foundation reinforcement is the most basic and the most important construction.  The Peruvian client was building an intercity highway and needed to reinforce the foundation.  Customers find us through our official website, hoping that we can provide Biaxial geogrid, according to the customer’s construction conditions, we recommend a biaxial geogrid with a pull of 35kN.  We also provided samples for customers’ reference, finally agreed to our scheme, and we provided the materials

Specifications of HDPE Biaxial Geogrid Used for Highway Foundation Project in Peru

  • HDPE Biaxial Geogrid – 35kN/m2
  • Total Quantity – 64000 Square meters
  • Each Roll Size – 3.95m*60m

Benefit

HDPE biaxial geogrid is made of high molecular polymer after extruded and laminated and punched into regular mesh before longitudinal stretching. The material on the longitudinal and transverse has great tensile strength, this kind of structure in the soil can also provide a more effectively undertake the chain and the spread of the thought system, suitable for large area of permanent bearing foundation reinforcement

Geogrid applications in pavement and roadway consist of sub-grade improvement, reinforcing the base course, sub-base and surface courses. The outward displacement of railway ballast is arrested and the settlement is reduced when they are reinforced with geogrids in soft sub-grade, the stiffer geogrids perform better than flexible geogrids as the later quickly reacts to the applied load.
